Thematically the project focused on elements of local and international subcultures particularly club and music scenes. The documentary photography works presented by each artist, though widely varied in form, questioned what it is to be a young producer/consumer of contemporary music. The short film series Real Scenes explore the social contexts surround the music industry in specific cities around the world. From Berlin to Johannesburg the films explain what factors play important roles in youth cultural education.
The events program presented during the exhibition creates a more wholisitc viewing experience, which really just means more reason to hang out and drink a beer…
