For her first residency in Vietnam, Sylvie Meltzer chose to initiate the research phase of an ethnodrama piece continuing on from her Masters research dissertation that focused on Chinese women referred to as “Shengnü” or “left over ladies”. In Vietnam she interviewed a small selection of women, engaging conversations about what it could mean to be a woman in contemporary north Vietnam.
With a background in performing and visual arts both as producer, facilitator and educator Sylvie is dedicated to storytelling, empowerment and having a dang good time.
"We have different backgrounds, experiences and languages that make us who we are, so how do we write, make and create together? How do we share our stories across cultures? This residency is a really exciting opportunity for me to explore how story-sharing is both unique and unifying and investigate tools that can work best in multicultural environments."
